Michelle is a grad student, and in her free time she likes helping people and animals. She was frustrated with all the big charities out there with all their overhead, administrative expenses and big executive salaries. So she decided to start her own charity foundation which is driven by giving the funds received directly to the beneficiaries with a minimal amount of admin expenses and no compensation to the officers and directors. Room5 started as a simple, local, grass roots type of organization. Room 5 provides back to school supplies for needy children, we participate in toy drives during the holidays, and we provide food for the homeless. Now we are focused on a new project called the Gratitude Project, which provides community assistance for children in South Africa.
